Intercessors

What is an Intercessor?

The word intercession comes from the Latin word, intercedo meaning “to come between”. It reflects the idea of standing in the gap for others, bridging the gap between God and humanity.

Intercession is a powerful form of prayer that seeks God’s intervention and blessing for others, recognizing our interconnectedness as part of God’s larger plan. {BibleStudyTools}

Intercession in the Bible refers to a prayer offered on behalf of others. It arises from the instinct of the human heart, and involved going beyond personal petitions and takes hold of God’s will, persistently seeking its fulfillment.

Taking it further, we can enter a place of deeper intercession. This is all of the above definitions PLUS an added supernatural aspect of seeing or knowing future events and/or what obstacles are hindering a person, ministry, or revival/awakening. This can also manifest on the positive side, seeing and knowing God’s presence and angels are assisting believers to do exploits for the Glory of God! John 16:13 says, “He [the Holy Spirit] will show [reveal to] you things to come.

This is also touching on some of the giftings of a “Seer” or New Testament Prophet. These giftings are available for all believers. Let’s put on our whole armour of God and use our supernatural weapons of warfare to keep the enemy under our feet!

Definition of an Intercessor

Intercession: The act of intervening on behalf of another.” {Oxford Languages}

What is Expected of an Intercessor?

TIME: We urge you to ask the Holy Spirit to pray as long as He sees fit. It could be as short as 1-2 minutes as you rush through your day, such as praying, “Father, I lift up Jim/NLM/ACTS to You. Pour out a blessing upon them and everyone who volunteers and is ministered to in their meetings/classes. In Jesus’ name, Amen” followed by praying in the Spirit, however much time you have

Other days, you may have more time to wait on the Lord to hear His voice prophetically speak to you specific details about the ministry. Many times, intercessors will sense, “Do this” or, “Don’t do that” about future events.

At times Intercessors may not fully understand exactly what the Lord is revealing to them by words, visions, dreams or prophetic means regarding the ministry. In time as you grow more sensitive to the Spirit, you will know what to share. Please share your experiences with us, it may make perfect sense to us.

Should You Expect to Receive?

SPIRITUALLY: We expect your spiritual sensitivity to drastically increase in seeing, hearing, and responding to God.

Don’t limit God! As you pray and intercede for NLM/ACTS, the Lord may also speak to you regarding your personal circumstances and life. When you are “in the Spirit”, He will give you everything you need to know.

Becoming an intercessor will open doors of revelation in every aspect of your life.
